Manageable Audio Manager Available for Free for Sony Walkman Users

By Pablo Conde Ferrer

On Friday, September 19, 2014

SonicStage is an audio tool that is full of features. It allows its users to manage a collection of audio files without any problems. Users can create their very own music library with this audio marvel. Its built-in player enables users to play music files which support various popular audio formats. It supports a few that have already been discontinued as well. While you use it, SonicStage enables you to pick from a normal user interface or a reduced version. The number of controls that are allowable for each interface is what differs between the two. The reduced version is most convenient for users who prefer continuous playing of music with less user-control. Being an expert in SonicStage is not hard. Anybody can get used to it easily. The music library enables you to classify and organize your songs, while it also allows you to transfer them onto audio CDs. You can even import them onto portable audio devices.

Pros

  • Plays various formats of audio files
  • Can transfer songs onto portable audio devices

Cons

  • Songs bought from Sony’s online music store are copyrighted and cannot be transferred

Free Audio Manager and Player to Enjoy Your Sony Walkman More

By Sam James

On Tuesday, July 14, 2015

SonicStage Version 4.3, or SonicStage CP, was designed for Net MD Walkman, Hi-MD Walkman, ATRAC CD Walkman, and Network Walkman users. As a fan of Sony’s trademark music player, I find the new functions unnecessary, but worth the review, so others will also know whether to get this version or not. The new functions involve a series of support for Windows Vista. SonicStage can rip MP3, WMA, ATRAC, HE-AAC, and AAC audio CDs. It enables a user to choose whether to add copyright protection or not when ripping audio files as well. A dynamic playlist is available, too. Users can create playlists according to artist names, music genre, date file was ripped, and many other file elements. In addition, Walkman users can buy and download music from Sony’s online Connect music store which is now more known as Music Unlimited. However, bought and downloaded songs cannot be transferred to other devices because they are copyright protected.

Pros

  • Offers a dynamic and organized playlist
  • Can copyright protect music files

Cons

  • Installation is a meticulous process

SonicStage 4.3, or CP, enables Walkman users to buy and download songs and other audio files from Connect, Sony’s online music store and is now referred to as Music Unlimited. You may not share bought music however, because they have copyright protection. You cannot transfer them onto different devices, too. SonicStage also allows it users to rip audio CDs in various formats such as MP3, WMA, ATRAC, HE-AAC, and AAC. When ripping audio CDs, users can choose if they want copyright protection or not for their files. A dynamic playlist on the other hand, enables users to create playlists and group them depending on artist names, date song was ripped, music genre, album name and many other elements. Originally, SonicStage was designed to be used on various Walkman models including Net MD, Hi-MD, ATRAC CD, and Network. It has new functions though those users of these Walkmans find not important. The new functions are simply a series of support for Windows Vista.

Pros

  • Organizes and manages your audio playlist
  • Protects audio files from piracy

Cons

  • Is not available on the Sony site anymore

Review

SonicStage is freeware from Sony which is useful to play and organize all your audio files if your music player device is compatible, either a Walkman or other Sony portable device. With this tool you can create a music library and you can access the song you want to display with just a click.

With SonicStage you can also import files from a CD or from your computer. This player offers two kinds of interface: normal or reduced. The normal interface has a collection of intuitive controls along with the information given about a song. With SonicStage reduced mode you will save screen space through displaying a small player with limited controls.

SonicStage CP is the latest version of this freeware, and it contains new features such as Random Play by year, searching by date, Automatic Scoring, searching your favorite music and searching in the playback history.
